Ice Industries Deerfield’s Investment in its Workforce Recognized by the Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation

July 12, 2016 – MASON, OH – Like many world-class companies, Ice Industries focuses heavily on its employees, and no aspect of that relationship is more important than safety. Throughout the year, the Company conducts continual safety training and incentive programs to achieve that goal.

Ice Industries Deerfield, in Mason Ohio, was recently twice recognized for its worker safety efforts. First, the facility was recognized by the Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation (BWC) for surpassing 500,000 hours without a lost-time accident. The BWC also recognized Deerfield as a 100% Achievement facility, awarded for reducing recordable injuries over 33% from the previous year.

“Ice Industries Deerfield employees should take great pride knowing they achieved such accomplishments in safety,” stated Janet Freeman, Ice Industries Deerfield’s Health and Safety Manager. “Safety is a culture – a mindset – and we should never be comfortable with where we are today. Safety requires continuous improvement efforts, along with constant training.”

Exemplifying Ms. Freeman’s remarks is the multi-faceted approach to safety taken by Deerfield. Monthly meetings are held with Team Leaders; safety and health postings are a regular feature throughout the plant as well as included with payroll; safety luncheons are held; and safe work habit incentives are rewarded. Most importantly, the Deerfield culture empowers everyone that works there to take responsibility for safety: their own and all those around them.

Summarizing the accomplishments, Gene Swick, Ice Industries Deerfield’s General Manager concluded “We are extremely proud of all our employees at Deerfield for achieving this success. This was only accomplished through each person’s attention to detail and work towards improving our safety every day. To all our employees; thank you for a job well done, and keep up the good work!”
