13 Complete Oil Pans Valued at $3.5 Million in Annual Sales to be Assembled in Mason, Ohio.

SYLVANIA, Ohio – September 10, 2009 – Ice Industries, a leading metal stamping, welding and assembly company, announced that it has won a major contract to produce oil pan assemblies for Navistar. These assemblies will be produced at its Deerfield Manufacturing plant in Mason, OH. Ice was awarded a combination of nine current oil pan part numbers; and is building dies and tooling to launch four additional next generation oil pans for the 2010 fiscal year.

Ice Industries quickly launched the nine current oil pan part numbers that will be used on Navistar’s MaxxForce® brand engines starting in 2010. Ice put its robust tool transfer expertise to work; assembling a team to aggressively move and launch the tooling needed to produce nine current part numbers in less than six weeks, with little to no inventory bank.

Ice Industries is now supporting Navistar’s production requirements with oil pan assemblies used in various medium, heavy duty, and off-highway applications. Oil pans are being manufactured using deep draw quality cold-rolled steel, as well as with special coated and laminate materials.

Ice Industries is manufacturing Navistar’s products on a large tandem press line that was refurbished, updated, and installed at Ice’s Deerfield Manufacturing facility in Mason, Ohio in 2007. With a lead-off press at 900 tons, the other four presses that round out the new tandem line are at 500 tons. Beyond the deep draw stampings, Ice is also responsible for installing heater assemblies; welding drain plugs and fittings; and painting many of the finished oil pan assemblies. The pans are subject to exacting quality requirements, which will be augmented with Ice Industries’ leak test and CMM capabilities. Ice’s Deerfield Manufacturing is ISO and TS 16949 certified.

“It is important that our existing and new customers have confidence in the long-term viability of the companies they are choosing for distressed die transfers or supplier consolidation, and Ice has worked hard to develop a diversity of customers and markets served which creates operational security for our customers,” said Howard Ice, Ice Industries’ founder and CEO.
