Ice Industries Designated a Steelcase Premier Supplier

SYLVANIA, Ohio – September 30, 2014 – Only one year after its first production shipments to Steelcase, Ice Industries has been designated as a Steelcase Premier Supplier.

Awarded annually, the Premier Supplier designation is a prestigious and difficult honor to achieve.  In 2014, Ice Industries’ metal stamping facility in Apodaca, Nuevo Leon, Mexico was one of only two dozen of Steelcase’s hundreds of direct suppliers chosen to receive the award.

Premier Suppliers must meet and maintain rigorous relationship, quality and delivery standards to achieve this designation.

Derek Ludwig, Steelcase’s Director of North American Procurement, said, “We were really pleased to see Ice Industries achieve this difficult award in only their first year.  With the success of the seamless launch of our parts in Mexico, they truly deserve the recognition”

The award was announced earlier this year at the annual Supplier Conference held at Steelcase’s Global Headquarters in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  At the conference, Ice Industries and other Premier Supplier winners were recognized in front of representatives from Steelcase’s entire North American supply base and Steelcase employees.

Howard Ice, Founder and CEO of Ice Industries who was present for the announcement at this year’s Supplier Conference said, “We couldn’t be more pleased to have been recognized for this award.  Steelcase is a premier organization and our entire organization is thrilled to have them as one of our important customers.”

Ice Industries plant in Apodaca, Nuevo Leon, Mexico supplies Steelcase’s Reynosa, Mexico chair assembly plant.   Ice Industries successfully moved the stamping business from the U.S. to its own facility in Mexico over a nine month period. During the launch process, Ice never missed a shipment and achieved the rigorous metrics necessary to achieve the coveted Premier Supplier award in its inaugural year.
